Before Your Scan

  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing with no metal (zippers, underwire bras, or belt buckles)
  • Remove all jewelry, piercings, and hairpins before arriving
  • Let us know if you have any metal implants, a pacemaker, or if you are pregnant
  • Let us know if you experience claustrophobia – we will do our best to make you comfortable
  • No special fasting or diet restrictions required for most MRI studies

During Your Scan

  • You will lie comfortably on a padded scanning table that slides gently into the MRI machine
  • The scan is completely painless. You will hear clicking and tapping sounds – this is normal
  • You may be asked to hold your breath briefly for certain images
  • Our technologist will be in constant communication with you throughout
  • Most studies take between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the area being scanned

After Your Scan

  • You can resume all normal activities immediately – no recovery time needed
  • A board-certified radiologist will review your images and prepare a detailed report
  • Results are typically available within 24 to 48 hours
  • Reports are sent to your referring physician. Copies are also available to you upon request

Yes. MRI does not use radiation of any kind. It is safe for most patients. Please inform us of any metal implants, pacemakers, or pregnancy before your appointment.

Most MRI scans take between 15 and 60 minutes, depending on the number of areas being imaged.

You may need to fast or avoid certain medications; our team will provide specific instructions.

An MRI may be right for you if you are experiencing:

If you have insurance, a referral from your physician is required along with prior authorization for you exam. We can help you obtain one if needed.
